Organized and guided by women of the Senaru communities, this is easy one and half hour walk through one of Lombok’s most spectacular nature settings. Leave the road behind for a short while and enter the magic world of our beautiful rainforest reserve. Here the sounds of tropical forest birds soon give way to the thunder of the towering Sindang Gila Waterfall. The brave may even venture for an exhilarating bath behind the white water curtain – the local people believe this to be a cure for disease. Alternatively, just relax in the cool shade of a rain forest giant and take in the magic scenery around you. Maybe the long tailed monkey will entertain you with its cheekiness.
From the waterfall, your guided walk continues along the slopes of Mount Rinjani to several beautiful viewpoints high above the river. As you leave the lush green rainforest behind, artistically terraced rice fields seem to stretch forever towards the blue waters the blue waters of the Flores sea. To the south towers the sharp volcanic peak of Lombok’s sacred Gunung Rinjani. Take time to enjoy this fantastic landscape or watch the local village scene pass by. | |

The Rinjani trek is a challenging mountain walk and you must be prepared with good equipment, warm and windproof clothing. Rinjani can attract severe storms, lightening and strong winds. When the weather is settled, the sun is intense and the nights frosty. Parts of the trail are steep and slippery. Beware of bad weather and risks of exposure to the wet and cold (hypothermia).................. |
